UPDATED 9/2006
Information About This Site
Teddy Ruxpin Online was created on August, 8, 1998. At the time I started
it I called it Josh's Teddy Ruxpin Site, and it was pretty primative while I learned HTML and graphics. It began
at the once-great Geocities, (before it got Yahoo!'d) When Geocities began having annoying popup ads displayed
multiple times on each page, I decided a change was needed and in 1999 moved the site to Tripod.
The site has been through several name changes over the years- and has once been known as the following:
Josh's Teddy Ruxpin Site (1998-1999)
The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin Supersite (1999-2001) or TAOTRS
Teddy Ruxpin Supersite (2001-2006) or TRS
and now finally Teddy Ruxpin Online at www.teddyruxpinonline.org
In 2002 or 2003, Tripod began blasting users with multiple pop-up ads as well, and I decided to find a new host
once again. I moved the site to FreeServers from NetZero which also has it's
share of ads but they are displayed in a more neat fashion and generally do not get in the way of the design, graphics or text.
On September 13, 2006, I secured the domain name www.teddyruxpinonline.org and moved the site there hosted on DirectNic.com with
NO POPUP ADS whatsoever. The site remains at FreeServers as a mirror site, in case any downtime might occur at one or the other,
Teddy Ruxpin Online should be 'online' 100% of the time that way.
The reasons for the various name-changes were mainly due to possibly moving the site to a domain. I wanted to
have something easy to remember, so a nickname or acronym, such as TAOTRS
I quickly found out purchasing the domain and moving it to a paid hosting site was not in my budget at age 15 or 16,
but the nicknames and scronyms stuck anyway. I dropped TAOTRS because a very large amount of my traffic was asking me why I called
the site "Tators", haha
All through the various name changes, the project has been my sole creation And other than help with
screenshots (early On) and some graphics, I hadn't had any other party in with me on production until this year,
when I invited Ben Bonser to become an Art Director for the site. While I still do
the graphics (including the main TRO graphic) myself as I am fairly skilled at photoshop, I am not a traditionally
skilled artist and cannot draw the characters, or anything else for that matter, worth a lick. Ben has already
supplied some great artwork, including the drawing of the medallion you see in the main Teddy Ruxpin online logo.
HOW TO BEST VIEW TEDDY RUXPIN ONLINE:
I have designed and tested the site with Mozilla Firefox,
my personal favorite for web browsing, and also tested it with Internet Explorer. I have not tested it with
any other browser or screen resolution so if you have any problems, Contact Me
In these days of quick downloads, I have given up small resolution graphics and pictures, as even the 56k connection
I have tested the site with does fine with loadup times.
I use the following colors with the site:
PLAIN OLD WHITE which is the text color you'll see
for texts
YELLOW- which is the color you will find unvisited
links displayed in
And GOLD- which is the color that will
be displayed on all headers and footers of the site, such as the page you're looking at's title, as well as the
color of links you have already visited in your time here at Teddy Ruxpin Online
Occasionally, I may use Magenta- Usually in the Verdana font such as this
to draw attention to something that is important. I know with
the blue background it is not easy on the eyes, but it is one of the few colors not already used that is readable
In addition, I use four primary fonts on the site:
Times New Roman- for texts
Arial, for links and occasionally elsewhere to distinguish something
Tahoma, for headers & footers
The Teddy Ruxpin Online logo
is with the font "TechnoClastic" although currently I do not use the font on the site, although I have plans
to in the future
Between all the incarnations of the site, including it's current one, I estimate (given numbers dating back
from about 2001) that I have reached somewhere around 20,000 people with the site... an amazing amount. It just proves
what all the lifelong fans know already- that Teddy is a longlasting character with a spirit and a unique story unmatched
by any other children's story, tv show or entertainment before or since.
Special thanks to Ken & Jan Forsse, who I had the pleasure to meet on two occasions. The Interview I did with Ken
was a lifelong dream (just getting to talk to him was!) and it's definately been the highlight of this project.
Special thanks to all the AlchemyII Staff, Espeically Ken Forsse, who
created such a warm cast of great characters that really was a bright spot
in my childhood and I look back apon very fondly. Also special thanks to all the wonderful
voice talent, most notably Phil Baron and Will Ryan, who brought all these wonderful characters to life. I still consider Teddy
Ruxpin a friend today :)
I'd also like to think the people behind Teddy's latest release at
BackPack Toys they are doing a superb job with our favorite Illiop and I look forward to a bright future for Teddy in their hands.
In no particular order, I also want to acknowledge the following people who's contributions, no matter how great
or small, helped me along the way to becoming (almost now I hope :-) a full functioning webmaster, and also others
who have contributed something to the site to make it better:
Mathue Taxion from the FAQ
Creed Stonegate- who's Teddy Ruxpin page was one of the first I saw way back about 9 years ago and who
also helped me with images when I was starting out
Twipper- a once fellow webmaster from the heyday of upstart TR sites who helped me personally and with the site and was/is a great friend
Maggie Parr and Jeff Wilson who provided much insight into the creation of Teddy & friends with pen & paper
John Koensgen- The wonderful voice of Tweeg in the TV series, who contacted me in the late 90's and set me straight on several issues pertaining to
his filmography- sorry I didn't get it right the first time and hope we can talk again sometime!
And of course to my brother across the ocean, Ben Bonser, who has created a lot of wonderful artwork
to be displayed in this new version of the site and who has also been there for me in rough times when I needed
an ear. Thanks bud.
