BACKPACK TOYS' TEDDY RUXPIN

After a 8 year hibernation, BackPack Toys re-introduced Teddy to the world in 2005, and in August, 2006 he returned to store shelves
In this humble webmaster's opinion, the best he's been since the original release in 1985. Now using cartridges instead of casette tapes, and with much better audio quality than either the Yes! or Playskool versions, the new Teddy comes packaged with the usual Airship story. This time out, The Airship's artwork (as well as the artwork in subsequent books) has been almost completely re-done (by Maggie Parr) and included is a read-along storybook so children can follow and read along with Teddy. Teddy of course also returns to his regular tunic, rather than the Red Shirt and "Blue Jeans" the Yes! Entertainment Corp. gave him in his last release in 1998

This version of Teddy also uses a much more simple mode of operation, and will be easier than all previous versions for children to operate. Since it uses cartridges instead of casette tapes, no rewinding or "turning over the tape" is needed, just press a "play" button and Teddy's telling you a story. The eyes and the mouth move in better sync with each other than I've seen since the Worlds of Wonder version as well. For more comparisons between the versions, visit my Comparisons page

The controls for the BackPack Teddy Ruxpin

Teddy is again smaller than the WoW version, but this will make him easier for children to carry around and handle, and also makes him slightly more durable. His fur also returns to a more WoW feel, and he generally appeares much closer to the Worlds of Wonder version than the previous two releases. This is of course a really good thing ;)

I am very pleased with this new version, and can't wait for the accessories to roll out to recapture a lot of the book & tape stories I have missed since my WoW teddy went silent. Planned so far ar Adventure Series I and II, which includes the conclusion of the search for the Treasure, meetings with Prince Arin and being held by the Mudblups. Other stories set for release include "Grubby's Romance" (I'm looking forward to that one) "The Day Teddy Met Grubby" (another favorite) and Lullabies, Christmas and several others. Go out and purchase the child or the Teddy fan in your life a brand new BackPack Toys Teddy Ruxpin, available at Target and other major retailers, and also available to order from TeddyRuxpin.com
