In
my ten years of running Teddy Ruxpin Online, I've been asked many
questions regarding Teddy and this site. I look forward to helping
out any way I can on any issue or question that might come up. As
Teddy's self-appointed #1 fan, I am always happy to recieve
coorespondance from other fans either with questions or just to
chat. With that being said, here are the most frequently asked
questions. Please check them over and make sure your question isn't
already answered here. If not, feel free to Contact Us, and please
log onto our Forums, where we have a plethera of
Teddy Ruxpin fans eager and willing to help.
Q: Why has your site changed so much? So many
different names and things...
A: I started the site in
1998, (You can find more info about the site by visitng our
About The Site page) and at the time I was 14 years old, a
pretty good speller by middle school standards but still made a
lot of mistakes on the site. Also was just getting aquainted with
HTML and design. Back then I simply was just interested in web
design and Teddy Ruxpin and put the two together, hoping to help
reach a younger generation of kids. I was also about to become
a brother for the first time, and my (much younger) sibling I hoped
would be interested in Teddy as I was, so the initiial site
just wasn't quite designed for the long-haul. I revamped it in
1999, 2001 and 2006 and each time the site got stronger. As far as
the titles go, I simply got tired of it being called The
Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin Supersite because it was too long of
a title, and the term "Supersite" itself was copyrighted in
2002, so I had to get rid of that out of the shortened
title- Teddy Ruxpin Supersite- then became Teddy Ruxpin Online, and
that title is here to stay. Thanks for checking back with me all
these years!
Q: Do you know Ken Forsse? Can I get his email
address/contact information?
A: I make it my
policy not to give out contact ifnormation for anyone that I'm in
contact with, including Mr. Forsse and anyone else I'm in
contact with from this site. I simply do not know when/if the person
would or wouldn't want to be contacted, so I don't give out the
information. I am not an employee of AlchemyII, and any business
proposals should be directed at them and not me, because all I do is
run a fan website. I appreciate everyone respecting my policy on
this issue by not asking for the information.
Q: Will you dub/copy episodes of the TV show for
me?
A: The Adventures of
Teddy Ruxpin is now being released on DVD by Mill Creek
Entertainment, and Teddy also had a previous DVD distributor who
released the first 10 episodes. Because the episodes are in print,
It is now my official policy not to make any copies or dubs.
Companies that continue to bring us Teddy Ruxpin products, 23 years
after his initial success, may do so on a rather thin
profit margin and should be supported so they continue to release
Teddy products. I would encourage everyone to be patient and
wait for the series to continue to be released on DVD rather than
buy from collectors, even if it takes a year or so. My
tapes are also from original syndication in 1987/88 and as such even
if TAoTR were not being released on DVD my tapes are not durable
enough to withstand multiple dubbing sessions. I do not allow
sales of solicitation of any pirated Teddy merchandise on my forums.
Q:
Why don't you have sound clips, movie cliips, etc. on the site? You
might as well as you already have screen captures.
A: The companies that
produce Teddy Ruxpin merchandise should be supported so they
continue to release Teddy products. I would not want to hurt the
viability of any Teddy Ruxpin software or TV show by airing parts of
it for free on my website. I do use screen captures and
epsiode summaries but I consider these to enhance the profitability
of Teddy Ruxpin distributors by reminding people exactly why
they loved Teddy so much.
Q: Was there a live-action Teddy Ruxpin production
with people in costumes, etc? I think I remember this but maybe I'm
crazy!
A: You're not crazy. In
1986 AlchemyII produced a live-action TV pilot for a Teddy Ruxpin
series that never materialized. When production on the animated
series began, AlchemyII released the pilot to ABC for a "Movie of
the Week" style showing to help advertise both the talking toy and
the upcoming TV show. A couple of different distributors released it
on VHS in the late 1980's as well and a few copies float around Ebay
from time to time. In the middle of working on a page for this back
in 2002, my tape was eaten by the VCR. As I only got limited screen
captures I cancelled plans for a page on this, but recently have
aquired another video copy and will be putting up a page sometime
soon.
